Matt Scherer[1] set up this wiki as part of the surplus-value.org[2] in order to support and extend student learning in his courses at George Mason University including but not limited to the program in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics[3].

Part of the idea here is to use modern, free, open source technologies to facilitate the production of knowledge within a community of learners. Other parts of the idea are: To use technologies that can be mastered and re-used in a variety of contexts. To use tools that are not wretched and miserable to use. To move away from canned 'assignments' and tasks and toward an engaged collective endeavor in learning within the context of university level courses.

The courses to be supplemented by this wiki project include:

PPE Capstone

Ancient Political Thought

Democracy in Theory and Practice

Graduate Seminar in Political Thought
